Zachary Caballero


Zachary Caballero is a Poet and First-Generation Trial Lawyer at Padilla & Rodriguez, LLP. He graduated from South Texas College of Law-Houston with honors in 2017 as a National Moot Court Champion and Member of the Order of Barristers. Since then, has served as a Co-Chair of HYLA’s First Generation Attorneys Committee for two consecutive bar years from 2019-2021, served as an appointed director on the HYLA Board of Directors in 2019-2020, and is a graduate of the HYLA Leadership Academy in 2019-2020. Zachary also served as a Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation from 2020-2021. Due to his work with HYLA, Zachary cares deeply about the first-gen legal community and also serves First-Gen Mentor through the UHLC’s First-Gen Mentorship Program and serves as a mentor through the University of Texas’ Hispanic Alumni Network Mentorship Program. In the summer of 2020, Zachary co-founded and helped launch HYLA’s first podcast series, “The Stories of First Generation Attorneys” which featured several inspiring stories about the journeys, struggles, and obstacles overcome by first gen lawyers and law students. As a descendant of immigrants and the son of a veteran, Zachary is passionate about helping and serving others in any way he can. When Zachary isn’t practicing law or being a poet, he loves to cook, travel, run along Buffalo Bayou, and spend time with his family and friends.
